Adchitects Weekly №4

Another weekend out of my life as sung by Ariel Pink, we find this piece highly relatable. Recent weeks have been business-as-usual for us, with more and more lines of code written and designs sketched.

But are efforts… They are yet to shine. We’re about to finish a few great projects — not gonna lie, can’t wait to share those in the next weekly.

But still! There are a few cool things that happened recently. Let’s dive now:

Company updates 🏢

Can’t stop (hiring)

Last time we’ve introduced Filip & Stan. This time another tech expert joined us. Lads & lasses, please welcome Adam!

…and his 7yo little rebel ;)

Adam joined us as a Frontend Dev, but let’s get down to the spicy stuff. When asked for a short bio, Adam wrote the following:

Energetic, always smiling and funny optimist — you gotta go through life with a smile on your face, a bit of banter and don’t overthink the problems and life difficulties but focus on the positive stuff.

Totally agree. After our first online interactions with Adam, 100% of this is true. But beware, he’s a man of passions as well. Especially those where you need to get your A off the chair and go outside: he plays football twice per week, rides a bike and plays squash. If that wasn’t enough, during wintertime he loves skiing (because of adrenaline, according to him).

Tired by the amount of calories you’ve just burned by reading the above? Now buckle up: Adam also organizes canoe trips, go-kart races and paintball battles. That’s more exercise than we’ve ever done in our entire lives.

Adam, so glad to have you on board!

Back to the office?

So far, we’ve counted 5 new people who joined us since lockdown started. That means 5 people, who haven’t met the whole bunch in person, haven’t seen the office nor our neigbours (pigeons).

Every week, at least one person asked when we’re coming back — and the answer was always the same: it depends on Covid. And with situation somewhat under control (our gov said that!)…

We’re able to go back. The Great Migration period will commence on 17th July. Follow our Instagram for an extensive coverage!

Mapping the unmapped

During one of our projects where map functionality was scoped, we’ve faced a dilemma: which tool should our client use? Mapbox or Google Maps?

The research was so extensive as we’ve really wanted to cover every bit in order to find the one that will suit the needs most… and we’ve ended up with a whole article about it. Check it out here!

Even more case studies

Yes, we do like boasting about our work.
Yes, we do have published even more case studies:

  • Spyrosoft a collaboration with a software house that proves designers and technologists can work along each other. And learn a lot!
  • 366Concept —case study of a shop we’ve done for a Polish client specializing in selling mid-century furniture design. Guess what, the site is just as chic as the furniture.

Back to modelling

As things are returning back to (new) normal, we’ve also had a first opportunity to visit Moiz studio and organise a photoshoot for Tobiasz and Krystian, our hires who joined us when the lockdown began.

Why such a big hassle for a photoshoot? Well, you must know that we treat it extremely seriously, as showcasing our uniqueness is a big chunk of who we are.

Hoping to see the results soon!

Other updates 🤔

Support a brother out

If you’ve ever tried skateboarding, you know how cool it is. Unfortunately, the coolness comes at a great risk of injuries… and such was the case for Filip’s close friend — Szczepan, who’s now in need for a hand operation. Filip helped organize a fundraiser, so if you’re willing to lend us a dollar or two — you can do that here.

Not convinced? Himself and a bunch of other friends produced a compilation of a couple of tracks published by Enjoy Life, Polish DIY label: all earnings proceed to Szczepan.

Check it out.

Recommendations 🎉

To watch:

To read:

  • This and that bits of articles about milennial mental health crisis. It’s grim, but an important read, as coronavirus lockdown has stripped how economic environment is dangerous for the generation that has just joined the job market.
  • Why should you build your own TikTok for Indian market — now. Recent tensions between China and India has provoked the second to ban all the Chinese-owned apps. The article proves that apps and other digital businesses are not free from politics and how big losses this can cause.
